What is the difference between an assisted living facility and a nursing home?

An assisted living facility offers a residential program for individuals who need help with daily activities, such as personal care, mobility, medication management, meal preparation or household chores, but who do not require skilled nursing care. These facilities strive to create a home-like setting that promotes independence. A nursing home is designed for individuals who need daily nursing care and have nursing staff available 24 hours a day along with other services such as therapy to meet the resident’s health care needs.

What is the average cost for an individual to live at an assisted living facility in our area?

The cost varies from about $1500 to $6000+ per month, depending on the facility’s physical features, size, location and services. At Jonesboro Assisted Living, the cost depends on the apartment and care package the resident needs. The smaller private apartments are $2175 per month and the larger private apartments are $2275 per month.

What care packages or levels of care can Jonesboro Assisted Living provide?

Assisted livings facilities are licensed to provide care at different levels. The level or care package corresponds to the amount of care the resident needs that will be provided by the facility. Please refer to our information regarding Plans of Care.

What happens if my loved one’s condition changes and they need more care than they did when they admitted?

A resident can continue to live at the facility until such time as their health declines as long as the care needs are not greater than the highest level of care the facility is licensed to provide. If the resident’s care needs exceed the highest level of care the facility can provide, the facility can assist with possible transfer to a nursing home. Residents are re-assessed on a regular basis to assure the facility is able to meet the resident’s need and that the resident is on the correct care package.
